By CordsieLike most of these offerings with which I keep fouling the internet, if you don’t instantly know who the subject matter is there’s no point trying to explain.
One little point of clarification here lest I cause a backlash of sweaty ranting. I realise that the file extension ‘.exe’ doesn’t have a standard pronunciation. I’ve heard it called ‘an x file’. I’ve also heard it called ‘a dot ee ecks ee file,’ (though I tend to associate this pronunciation with the type of person who ‘writes SQLs’ or ‘creates XMLs’). In my head, the file extension ‘.exe’ is pronounced in a manner that rhymes with ‘sexy’. A bit ironic, because the two concepts denoted by these phoneme clusters are generally considered mutually exclusive.
This is the kind of thing that generates exabytes of debate amongst the more opinionated geeks out there, so I’ll use the same approach that I take towards a lot of hot geek topics. For instance, here are my stances on several oft rehashed arguments in a handy summarised format:
Vi vs emacs: Whatever floats your boat. I don’t give a shite.
Brace on the same line as the function declaration vs. brace on separate line: Whatever turns your crank. I don’t give a shite.
etc. . .
I guess this is no longer a family friendly site. I’m going to pull a George W. and fall off my segue before I descend even further.
